Taekwondo Self Defense for Women

We mentioned previously the three types of self defense for women.  One of the physical defense types that is well suited for women is Taekwondo.  The reason being it has a high focus on kicking even though the word Taekwondo roughly translates into 'the way of the foot and fist'.  In general women have better lower body strength than upper body strength.

Taekwondo's origins are as a Korean martial art and is one of the most popular worldwide martial arts. Taekwondo is popular with men, women and children of many ages. Physically Taekwondo develops agility, strength, speed, balance, stamina and flexibility with stretching being a key training component.

Taekwondo also focuses on confidence and mental strength.  For example in Taekwondo training physical and mental strength and discipline is used to break boards.  Taekwondo classes are held in many local communities with a range of classes for children and generally mixed adult classes.  Training has a high focus on predefined moves as well as defense against personal attack.  These are regularly practiced as well as the standard training curriculum.
